What internet speed do I need?

Four questions, one minute: get the recommended speed for your household.

How many people use the internet at home?
How many screens stream video at the same time?
What do you use it for? Choose all that apply.
Your current connection?

How the recommendation is calculated

We add up the needs of each simultaneous use (HD video about 5 to 8 Mbps per screen, 4K about 25 Mbps, a video call about 4 Mbps each way, gaming, remote work with large files), then add a 50% margin for peaks and Wi-Fi losses. The result is rounded to the nearest plan tier (20, 50, 100, 200, 500 Mbps or 1 Gbps).

These values are guidelines; platforms adapt quality to your connection. For details by service, read speed needed for Netflix, YouTube and video calls and what is a good internet speed.

Frequently asked questions

Should I take more speed than recommended?

Not necessarily. Beyond your needs, extra speed does not make things smoother. Good Wi-Fi and stable ping often matter more.
