Testing your TalkTalk connection
TalkTalk sells broadband over the Openreach network and, in some cities, over CityFibre. Its part fibre plans (Fibre 35 and Fibre 65) use copper from the street cabinet, while Full Fibre plans bring fibre to the home. Some full fibre plans include an Amazon eero mesh router instead of the TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub.
This test detects your provider automatically and measures download, upload, ping, jitter and latency under load against the nearest server on Cloudflare's network. Enter your plan speed under the result to see the percentage you really get.
TalkTalk speeds by plan
| Plan | Download | Upload |
|---|---|---|
| Fibre 35 / Fibre 65 (part fibre) | about 38 to 67 Mbps | about 9 to 18 Mbps |
| Full Fibre 150 | about 150 Mbps | about 30 Mbps |
| Full Fibre 500 | about 500 Mbps | about 75 Mbps |
| Full Fibre 900 | about 900 Mbps | about 100 to 115 Mbps |
Average speeds as advertised; the exact figures can differ slightly between the Openreach and CityFibre versions of a package. Checked on 31 October 2026; tiers change and vary by address, so confirm on the TalkTalk website.
What result should you expect?
A wired test on Full Fibre 500 should show close to 500 Mbps down. On part fibre, a result well below the average is often caused by the copper line or home wiring.

Common reasons for slow TalkTalk speeds
- Wi-Fi Hub range: in larger homes, measure in each room with the Wi-Fi or line diagnosis.
- Part fibre on a long line: read speed up slow DSL.
- Frequent drop-outs: see internet keeps dropping.
- Below the minimum guaranteed speed: keep wired tests from several days.
Before contacting TalkTalk support

Frequently asked questions
Does TalkTalk use Openreach or CityFibre?
Both. Which network you get depends on your address; enter your postcode on TalkTalk's site to see it.
What router comes with TalkTalk Full Fibre?
Depending on the plan, the TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub or an Amazon eero mesh router, which helps in larger homes.
Why is TalkTalk Fibre 65 slower than 65 Mbps?
Part fibre speed depends on the length and quality of the copper line from the cabinet. Test at the main socket with a cable to rule out home wiring.
